Cliff Harris JDRF Reunion Golf Classic a Success!
Golfers enjoyed a day filled with celebrities, golf, silent auction and dinner at the Cliff Harris JDRF Reunion Golf Classic on June 27, 2011!
The morning began with golfers arriving at Gleneagles Country Club in Plano and receiving a player package including Oakley sunglasses, hat and golf shirt after visiting Oakley’s Rolling O Lab featuring their latest technology. The Ticket SportsRadio was also on site, hosting the Norm Hitzges Show Live and interviewing Cliff Harris and other former and current athletes about JDRF, their connection to type 1 diabetes and the events of the day.
Golfers were able to mingle with celebrities including the host of the event, Cliff Harris, as well as former Dallas Cowboys such as Roger Staubach and Walt Garrison, and others including Billy Joe DuPree, Bubba Gillium, Everson Walls, Gene Stallings, Ira Terrell, Jose Guzman, Kurt Petersen, LP Ladouceur, Lyle Blackwood, Mel Renfro, Mike Renfro, Preston Pearson, Rudy Gatlin, Spud Webb, Toby Petersen, Tony Hill, Charlie Waters, D. D. Lewis, Doug Donley, Angelo King and Donnie Anderson.

After a lunch buffet at the clubhouse terrace of Gleneagles Country Club, the tournament began with a shotgun start at noon. The four man shamble format was played on both the King’s and Queen’s courses with The Nyleator trick shot shows and longest drive competition and hole-in-one chances sponsored by Rusty Wallis Volkswagen. Cliff Harris
At dinner, Cliff Harris discussed the work JDRF is doing to find a cure for type 1 diabetes as well as his personal connection to JDRF. Everson Walls was presented the JDRF Hero award by Cliff Harris and Gene Stallings in recognition of Walls’ donating his kidney to former teammate Ron Springs who battled diabetes complications. The top foursomes from each course were then awarded with iPads, Oakley Banger Bags and Adams Drivers.

JDRF held a silent auction during dinner featuring over 60 items such as two flat screen HDTV’s, a Bret Michaels autographed guitar, a football autographed by each current and former football player that participated in the tournament that day, Texas Rangers home-plate tickets and many more items such as weekend getaways, electronics and memorabilia.
