Free Presentation: The Rights of Children with Diabetes in Schools

The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) in Dallas, Texas is conducting a technical assistance presentation regarding students with diabetes. This free presentation will address:

  • Section 504
  • Title II and Students with Disabilities
  • The civil rights responsibilities of schools that receive federal financial assistance from the Department
  • School districts’ responsibilities under Title II and Section 504 with respect to students with diabetes
  • OCR’s Case Resolution Tools

IMPORTANT: Please note there will be two different presentations

  • One for Parents, Student Advocacy Groups, Community Groups, PTA/PTO and other concerned persons AND…
  • One for Doctors, School Nurses and other Healthcare Providers, Diagnosticians, Counselors, Section 504/Title II Coordinators, Student Teachers, District & School Administrators and ARD committee members from school districts in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex and surrounding areas.

Presentation for Doctors, School Nurses and other Healthcare Providers, Diagnosticians, Counselors, Section 504/Title II Coordinators, Student Teachers, District & School Administrators and ARD committee members from school districts in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex and surrounding areas

Date: Friday, March 25, 2011

Time: Session I: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Session II: 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
(For your convenience two sessions are being offered, please register early)

If you are unable to register, either online or by telephone, please do not let this prevent you from attending. Registration is NOT a requirement for attending this technical assistance program. The registration request is solely designed to give us a general understanding of the number of participants OCR should expect.
